Do I Need to Register in Advance?

Most Canadians are already on the registered list of electors (for example, from the check-off on your taxes). You can double check here.

If you need to update your information (for example, you moved) you can do so online here. If your name changed, you must visit a Returning Office (in Calgary Centre, that’s at 2204 - 2nd St. SW) with identification showing your old and new names. You can also do this at the polling station when you go to vote, but give yourself a little extra time.

You don’t need to update or register in advance, although it will save time on voting day. Doing it in advance also means you will receive a Voter Information Card. Taking your Voter Information Card with you to vote can save time on voting day.

However, you can update your registration at the polling station. Remember to bring identification with old and new information.

For full registration information, visit the Elections Canada website.
